International Symposium on Enchytraeidae (ISE) is held in every two years since 1994 to bring together people working on enchytraeids all around the world. The symposium intends to be an occasion to share and to discuss new findings and views about this interesting and important taxon while promoting a friendly interaction among experts, newcomers, or any other kind of participant.
The symposia include talks, posters, and a taxonomic workshop. It has a traditional focus on taxonomy and applied soil ecology, but actually it covers all aspects of the biology of enchytraeids, including developmental biology, physiology, phylogeny, and ecotoxicology. A peer-reviewed Proceedings volume, the "Newsletter on Enchytraeidae" is published usually within less than one year.
