Resolution by the Presidium adopted on February 12, 2019

Resolution no. 1

The Presidium requests that the minister for innovation and technology provide the research institutions of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences with their basic state funding that is guaranteed by law.

The Presidium calls upon the director-generals of the research centres and the directors of research institutes that they send their funding requests under the “Thematic Excellence Programme” announced by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH) to the president of the Academy.

In line with the proposal made by the Batthyány Society of Professors, the Presidium calls upon the president that he only forward the funding requests from research institutions to the minister for innovation and technology and to the president of the NKFIH if he has received a written confirmation from the minister that the institutions will receive the amount of funding guaranteed by the 2019 state budget.

The Presidium calls upon the president to initiate negotiations with the minister for innovation and technology regarding the future structure of the research institutions without delay.

Resolution no. 2

The Presidium is grateful for all the support from within the Academy and from other institutions. It also appreciates and acknowledges the unwavering commitment, trust and composure the staff of the academy has demonstrated.
