Press release by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences regarding Lukács Archives and Library

The Hungarian Academy of Sciences considers it important to preserve the Lukács Archives and Library and ensure that all its materials are processed, organised and thoroughly catalogued based on strict professional regulations while the collection also remains open to research.

The most important scientific aim is to ensure that the materials of the Lukács Archives and Library are made available to professional circles both in Hungary and abroad. In order to achieve this aim the following steps are to be taken in accordance with Mr. Lukács’s last will and testament:

  • the manuscript collection of the library of the Lukács Archives will be relocated to the Manuscript Archives of the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences;
  • after relocation, the manuscript collection of the library of the Lukács Archives will be catalogued and digitized in accordance with professional regulations of archiving and the manuscripts are to be stored according to official storage regulations;
  • the Lukács Archives and Library will be relocated to the Philosophy Institute of the MTA Research Centre for the Humanities;
