Waterbirds prefer effective governance

What factors could indicate the prospects of wildlife within the confines of a country’s borders? GDP growth, the effects of climate change, population growth or the distribution of nature reserves? According to an article recently published in Nature, a well-functioning state far exceeds all of the aforementioned considerations.
