Europe cannot afford to leave behind a single talent – opening ceremony of the joint conference of Academia Europaea and ALLEA on video

One of the most outstanding conferences of the European scientific community was held at the Academy during the joint venue organised by the Academia Europaea and ALLEA.

The participants were welcomed by Academy president Mr. László Lovász who emphasised in his opening speech the significance of caring for talents: “Europe cannot afford to leave behind a single talent.”

Sierd Cloetingh, president of Academia Europaea, which boasts a scientific membership of more than 3500, hailed the occasion as unique in its own right.

Günter Storck, president of ALLEA outlined the importance of academic independence while Marcel Swart, President of the Young Academy of Europe announced that the membership had recently exceeded 200, following the acceptance of a Hungarian researcher, namely Enikő Kubinyi into their ranks.
