AE's initiative for transformative practices in healthy food and sustainable agriculture in Europe

University of Cambridge hosted a recent workshop organised by the AE Cardiff Hub for the launch of an action for healthy food and sustainable agriculture

A 3-day workshop from 20 to 22 September 2023, at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, was taking place for Members of Academia Europaea who had accepted the invitation of AE's Task Force for Environment, Sustainability and Climate (TFESC) for a gathering whose objective was to discuss ways in which Academia Europaea - with its diversity of expertise represented by its membership and in collaboration with the Young Academy of Europe (YAE) - could take an active role in addressing such pressing climate and environmental issues as the future of sustainable agriculture and healthy food supply.

In operation since 2022, the Task Force for Environment, Sustainability and Climate (TFESC) was set up with a view to fulfilling Academia Europaea's ambition to be a leading voice on issues of climate and environmental change research, particularly in the area of science for policy. The Task Force is made up of a core team representing all the classes of AE, complemented by a group of experts. One of the experts is Dr Katalin Solymosi, Co-Chair for the Danube Region thematic mission of the AE Budapest Hub, who also attended the Cambridge workshop. Dr Solymosi also represented the Young Academy of Europe as its Vice Chair.
