New brain defibrillator aids epilepsy patients

A study published by Nature Communications reports that a new invention capable of automatically stopping epileptic seizures has been developed. Among the authors were members of the MTA-SZTE Impact Oscillatory Neuronal Network Research Group headed by Antal Berényi. The goal of the procedure, developed specifically for patients suffering from epilepsy non responsive to drugs, is to utilise just the right amount of electric stimuli necessary to stop the seizure.
